Aylesbury Town Councillor for Oakfield Learn more

There have been quite a few issues raised recently about Tring Road. The poor state of the repairs undertaken by the utility companies has been felt by many residents, literally. The uneven repairs have caused extra vibrations giving concern about long term structural damage. County Councillor Jenny Puddefoot and Cllr Glenda Reynolds have taken up those problems with County and the utility companies.
Today between 9 and 10 o’clock, this Saturday morning, Cllr Steven Patrick and I took out the Aylesbury Town Council Community Speed Camera to check for one of the other issues, the alleged speeding on Tring Road. So what did we find?
For those driving into town, the queues limited the speed of the traffic to well below the speed limit. For those driving out of Aylesbury, during one hour of checking, 2 vehicles clocked 34 mph and 2, a silver Mercedes and a white van clocked 35 mph. The overwhelming majority of car drivers were driving within the 30 mph speed limit. OK, a few might have spotted our black box standing on the pavement, but there was no obvious standing on brakes or tyre squeals to indicate anyone taking drastic action to avoid speeding! For the drivers who passed us this morning, understanding and observing the speed limit was not an issue.
The Town Council Community speed camera is available for use throughout the town to check the speed of vehicles. It’s not an enforcement camera and no one found speeding can be or will be ticketed, but they could receive a warning letter. The information gathered can be used to advise if further measures need to be put into place or as from this morning to report that, overall, motorists were driving within the limits.
